USE RECOMMENDATIONS
Wood is a material that is "alive", meaning, it is a hygroscopic material and therefore tends to absorb water or lose water, depending on environmental conditions, relative humidity and air temperature, so that each environmental state has a corresponding degree of moisture in the wood, called hygroscopic equilibrium moisture.

Plywood is solid wood for all purposes, and as such reacts to changes in humidity and temperature, even changing its shape or size and curving.
Storage:
From production to transport of the material to the customer, we pay particular attention to this aspect, all of our storage areas are properly heated, and the packages are always well protected with polyethylene stretch film.

To avoid problems we recommend:
  • Store boards and profiles in a closed warehouse, with the correct climate and always under a roof.
  • If the storage or processing area presents variations in temperature and / or humidity, it is advisable to transfer the material to the laboratory for at least 48 hours before starting the production.
  • Material that is longer than 2000mm, should have at least three support points.
  • Do not store the material vertically, leaning against the wall, etc.
Worksite Placement and Manipulation of Boards and Panels.
  • Storage at the worksite: The material should be stored in a sheltered, cool, well-ventilated, clean and dry area in the worksite. It should be stacked leaving gaps between the wood, the floor and walls. Do not remove the packing material until use.

  • Relative Humidity: In the UNE 56-810 norm, it is recommended not to start the installation of the boards until the local humidity is not below 70% in coastal areas and 50% for inland areas. The humidity of the walls will be less than 2.5%, except plasters and paints that cannot reach 5%.

  • Moisture content and setting: The moisture content of the screed should be less than 3%. It is assumed that for every degree of humidity of the screed above 4% is transmitted to the pavement of 4 to 5 degrees of humidity.

  • Cohesion and hardness of the base: In the case of flooring boards, the support must be sufficiently hard and rigid to withstand nailing or screwing to battens or traction tensions of adhesives if it should be glued.

  • Flatness and levelness: Support for the installation of a pavement, stairs or countertops must be flat and horizontal.

  • Cleaning: The surface must be clean and free of anything that may impede the placement.

  • Glazing and closing of gaps: The gaps of the building must be properly closed and glazed to prevent the effects of frost, rain water entering, excessive humidity, direct sunlight, etc.

  • In finishing Operations, the enclosure is essential for preventing drafts from tracking dust or causing a rapid setting of the varnishes.

  • Other recommendations: The placement of terrazzo tile or marble in the bathrooms and kitchens and staircase landings, the laying out work of the white plaster and the pre-placement of the door frames must be terminated.

  • Treatment (varnish, lasur, oil):

    • Flooring boards, exterior cladding and decking: should be treated (varnished, oiled ...) on all sides. If we do only one side, the other side will continue taking or releasing moisture, causing an increase or decrease in size and therefore the curving of the board.

    • Interior Floor Boards: you only have to varnish one side, but in the case that the board is very wide, it should be done on by both sides to prevent curling.

  • Avoid placing it near heat and moisture sources, and placing objects on the boards that are too hot, as this can cause discoloration. Equally, avoid excessive protruding of the boards, because it can lead to excessive bending of the board.

  • In the case of oak and chestnut, before final treatment (varnish, oil, ...) you should apply a base of anti-tannins to avoid that they rise to the surface when they are in contact with water.
